American Water Names Nick Rowe to Lead Eastern Division

American Water Works Company, Inc. (NYSE:AWK), the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, today announced that Nick Rowe, president of Kentucky American Water, will also now serve as senior vice president of the company’s Eastern Division.

American Water’s Eastern Division includes Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Tennessee, New York and Kentucky. In this additional role, Rowe will drive performance within the division, establish consistent best practices and enhance American Water’s efforts to maintain and build external relationships. Rowe will also continue to serve as president of Kentucky American Water.

As the leader of the Eastern Division, his knowledge and expertise will further support American Water’s commitment to having a strong local presence in every community we serve while providing maximum value for our customers.”

Rowe joined American Water in 1987 as management assistant at West Virginia American Water. He was subsequently promoted into various management positions with responsibility for the day-to-day operations of American Water facilities in several states including Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

Rowe is involved with various regulatory agencies, civic organizations and professional associations and holds board positions with the Lexington Industrial Foundation, Commerce Lexington and the Central Bank Advisory Board. He also serves on the executive board of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the American Water Works Association and the National Association of Water Companies.

In July 2007, the Public Relations Society of America’s Thoroughbred Chapter selected Rowe to receive its Communicator of the Year Award. He was selected for his leadership and open communication in business.

Rowe holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University and a master’s in business administration from Lebanon Valley College.
