American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced today that Ellen Wolf, senior vice president and chief financial officer, was recognized by South Jersey Magazine as one of South Jersey’s “Super Women” for 2008. This feature, published in the magazine’s November issue, recognized and highlighted some of South Jersey’s brightest, most inspirational and accomplished area women. Wolf was acknowledged in the business category with four other exceptional South Jersey women.

With more than 20 years experience, Wolf currently has responsibility for all financial functions, including directing and coordinating all company financial objectives and obligations, ensuring the integrity of financial statements, developing budgets for both annual and interim periods, developing cash management investment strategies, maintaining a financially solvent organization, and leading the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance implementation project.
Prior to joining American Water, Wolf held financial positions with USEC Inc., Bell Atlantic and the accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells.
Wolf received a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a master’s in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She was named a recipient of the “50 Key Women in Energy Awards in 2001” for her leadership. Currently, she serves on the board of directors of C&D Technologies Inc., Water For People and National Association of Water Companies.
