The newly released report explains that the natural medicine system is reliant on dosha determination. Ayurveda focuses on whole-body healing by balancing the five elements found in every person.

According to the report, these elements are differentiated as aakash (space), jala (water), prithvi (earth), teja (fire), and vayu (air). Every person has a unique ratio of doshas, dhatus and malas, with the combination of each element resulting in three humours known as vata, kapha, and pitta.

Understanding a person’s doshas, and consequently, their humour, helps the Ayurvedic practitioner determine their prognosis. A customized plan is then made to reinvigorate the elements and make the patient feel more energized.

Humours explain the physical, emotional, mental, and behavioural characteristics of each patient. For example, those with the vata dosha are usually thin, and are more vulnerable to digestive issues and gas.

On the other hand, kapha dosha are usually strong and compact but are at higher risk of heart disease and depression.

As stated in the report, people with pitta dosha are usually muscular and athletic, but can suffer from mood swings and are sensitive to heat.

In the report, Santhigram explains that because each person’s Ayurvedic constitution is different, so too should be their therapies. The centre invites interested patients to schedule an online consultation with its resident Ayurvedic practitioner, Dr. Trupti Gaikwad.

During the consultation, Dr. Trupti will first assess the patient’s health by understanding their history and asking questions on their temperament, attitude, tendency for sickness, and lifestyle. Then, she will recommend Ayurvedic therapies, including dietary recommendations to strengthen their immune system.

Dr. Trupti reminds patients that they do not have to be sick to benefit from Ayurvedic therapy. The consultation can also be used to help patients learn more about themselves and maintain their health.
