SAN DIEGO - Jan. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- Best known for exquisitely detailed portraits of rare and exotic flowers, internationally acclaimed artist David Leaser will present several of his most iconic images at a special photography exhibition at Adelman Fine Art, a boutique gallery located in the heart of San Diego’s lively little Italy neighborhood. “Lens & Brush: An Exhibition of Photography and Photo-Inspired Paintings” runs Jan. 16-Feb. 21, will feature the works of David Leaser, and includes new collections from photographers Jon Barnes, Ernie Longoria and Dave Ness. The exhibition will showcase original paintings and reproductions inspired by photos and interpreted by artists. The artwork will hang alongside the inspirational photograph. An opening reception will take place on Friday, Jan. 16 from 7-9 p.m. with the opportunity to meet the artists. RSVP is required.
From Hawaiian daisies grown in the shadow of a volcano to orchids springing up in a South American rainforest, David offers up a new vision of plants and flowers and shows them in a way they’ve never been seen before. He uses innovative space-age technology he pioneered to present extremely enlarged images that pop with bold colors and patterns. His “bee’s eye” images show close-ups so detailed you can see a flower’s tiniest hairs and the dew on its petals and reveals details traditional photography has been unable to show until now.
Visitors will see many of his classic images, including “Tiger’s Eye,” a striking close-up of a flowering maple with deep red veins and suspended yellow blossoms similar to a Chinese lantern. “Tiger’s Eye” has won many accolades, including a Silver Medal at the International Photography Awards and Sunset Magazine’s “West at Its Best.” “Tiger’s Eye” was also the only photograph juried for the prestigious London Art Biennale. Other classics include “Hokulei," which features a protea reminiscent of an exotic sea creature. “Hokulei” recently received the Gold Medal at the International Photography Awards as part of David’s series, “When Darkness Falls in the Garden.”

With six award-winning collections to his credit, David has been recognized as one of the world’s leading botanical photographers. He uses a groundbreaking process he developed using NASA and Nikon technology to layer dozens of photos together and show flowers in a way they have never been seen before. His artwork has been praised by the art and photographic communities and has been featured on ABC News, Fox News and in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Architectural Digest, Sunset Magazine and Nikon World. Architectural Digest says Leaser’s images “glow with eye-popping color and pattern,” and Ann Landi, contributing editor for ARTNews, says, “Leaser’s work seduces us as only an unforgettable work of art can, to look and look again.”
Two of David’s collections were recently awarded Gold and Silver Medals in the International Photography Awards competition out of thousands of submissions from around the world. He was also awarded Grand Champion in Nature in the Moscow International Foto Awards ’14 competition. The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in Los Angeles developed an artist series around Leaser’s work and houses 14 of his large-scale images in its permanent collection.
