Spotlight on San Jose: Legal, Civic Professional Shaian Mohammadi Passes California Bar Exam

The grueling test with notorious low passage rates is given during a span of two-days and only twice a year.

(PRUnderground) December 2nd, 2022

Shaian Mohammadi, an award-winning law graduate from the California Western School of Law (ABA), former Obama Administration appointee, entrepreneur, and community organizer has passed the California Bar Exam according to the July 2022 pass list. Mohammadi is the first in his family to go to law school.

Shaian Mohammadi joins the ranks of 3,753 soon to be attorneys to pass the rigorous two-day California Bar Exam. Out of a total of 7,164 examinees, only 52.4 percent passed the July 2022 exam according to statistics from the State Bar. Shaian Mohammadi and other successful examinees must still take the attorney’s oath of office and meet all requirements as determined by the State Bar before beginning the practice of law.

As co-founder of SafeShield and with his current work in the legal and tech industries, as well as his experience as a law clerk who worked on high profile federal immigration cases in suit with the U.S. Secretary of State and U.S. Department of Justice – Mohammadi says he is looking forward to fighting for people and against those who punch down once he is sworn-in.

As a second-generation Californian whose parents immigrated to the United States in the 1970s from Iran in order to seek a better life – Shaian Mohammadi saw firsthand the struggles his immigrant parents went through to provide for their family and a system that at times was dismissive to them.

In 2017, Shaian Mohammadi was awarded the Justice Wiley W. Manuel Pro Bono Award from the State Bar of California due to his work in the community during his time in law school. His time spent in Palo Alto achieving a Certificate in Political Psychology at Stanford University’s Institute in Political Psychology allowed him the ability to learn how the electoral and judicial systems may not deliver for underrepresented people. Shaian Mohammadi currently resides in Silicon Valley.

In California, the bar exam is just one requirement in order to become a licensed attorney. An applicant must also receive a legal education, register with the State Bar, pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam, receive a positive moral character determination and background check, as well as be on time with court obligations and administrative functions.

This is not legal solicitation nor a legal advertisement. Shaian Mohammadi is not an attorney nor does he hold himself out to be an attorney, until he is sworn-in and fulfills all requirements as determined by the State Bar.
