Know your Federal Tax Obligations as a New Business Owner in Houston

(Beni Ancheta, NewsUSA Reporter) - Gathering, organizing, and filing federal taxes as a new business owner can be complicated and confusing. 

 

The Office of Business Opportunity Solution Center (OBOSC), in partnership with the Small Business Development Center University of Houston (SMDC UH), offers a FREE workshop about federal tax obligations on March 18, 2024, from 9 am to 12 pm at the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, 1201 East NASA Pkwy. 

 

The workshop is an opportunity for new business owners or aspiring ones to hear and ask questions directly to an IRS representative.

 

Sheba D. Gonzalez, Stakeholder Liaison, Internal Revenue Service, will talk about the process of applying for an Employer Identification Number (EIN), the fundamentals in record keeping for tax, types of business entities, outline of Form 1040 and Schedule C, calculation of profit and loss and gross profit and income, identification and deduction of expenses, self-employment tax, and estimated taxes.

 

New or aspiring business owners can attend the workshop to help them keep up with their tax obligations with more confidence.
