Changing Tides Rehab Program Achieves CARF Accreditation

KITTY HAWK, NC - (NewMediaWire) - September 23, 2022 - Changing Tides Beachfront Alcohol and Drug Rehab program, located on the Outer Banks in North Carolina, has received a three-year accreditation by the CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities).

An independent nonprofit organization whose goal is promoting high-quality rehabilitation services, CARF helps organizations improve their services and demonstrate program fidelity.

Aubrey Dunning, Changing Tides' executive director, said that "CARF certification is vital for long-term success, since being accredited sets us apart from other addiction treatment facilities. The recent review of our drug and alcohol services is a rigorous affirmation that we are meeting the needs in this community by helping people who have been impacted by addiction."

Why Accreditation Matters

Accreditation means a recovery facility has met standards of quality care. A program that's CARF accredited has guidelines and policies in place to ensure excellent services. The accreditation process involves rigorous evaluation of rehab facility programs.

It affirms the facility's commitment to quality and distinguishes it from other addiction treatment facilities in North Carolina that haven't undergone such vetting. CARF-accredited programs at Changing Tides include Partial Hospitalization Program, Day Treatment Program, Intensive Outpatient Program and Community Housing.

Day Treatment and Partial Hospitalization

The partial hospitalization and day treatment program at Changing Tides allows clients to work with professional staff in assessing addiction-related issues and developing treatment plans.

Clients can expect to learn what's involved in the recovery process, the biological aspects of addiction, the importance of family involvement in recovery and how to set short- and long-term goals. An essential component of partial hospitalization is withdrawal management.

Withdrawal symptoms can get in the way of a client's progress, so the medical staff at Changing Tides provides treatment to reduce the effects of withdrawal symptoms.

Clients work with a primary therapist and a clinical team during their time in the day treatment/partial hospitalization program. Family therapy helps clients and their families rebuild fractured relationships and develop skills to help them work through issues during and after recovery.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Building on the work of the day treatment program, the intensive outpatient treatment program at Changing Tides offers group therapy five days each week for three hours per day. Clients participate in group, individual and family therapy. Psychoeducational and experiential groups are also part of the outpatient treatment program.

Clients who progress through the IOP program develop skills that help them cope with the stressors and triggers that can lead to relapse.

Community Housing

Community housing at Changing Tides provides a low-stress setting where clients can recover from addiction and begin a substance-free life. Oceanfront accommodations only steps from the beach allow clients to interact with their peers and with staff who live on the premises.

Amenities include convenient washers and dryers, Wi-Fi and a seasonal pool. Changing Tides also permits some pets to accompany their owners to community housing for an additional fee.

The Importance of Community Housing for Addiction Treatment

Community Housing offers clients a safe place to work on abstinence and sobriety while participating in the outpatient services program. Clients get the monitoring and encouragement to be accountable they need to be successful once they return home.

Changing Tides can make a difference in the lives of individuals ready to get a fresh start without alcohol and drugs. Some people may wonder if they have adequate insurance coverage to pay for the program. With CARF accreditation, more individuals will have the opportunity to seek admission and benefit from the treatment programs at Changing Tides.

Dunning says, "A big win for Changing Tides is now we can go in-network with many insurers we have a relationship with. It's great to know CARF accreditation will enable those in financial difficulties to seek the help they need."

A leading Insurance Partner with Addiction Treatment Provider

The facility accepts health insurance from major providers that include Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Health Care and others. Federal law requires most private insurers and all government insurance plans to offer some level of coverage for alcohol and drug addiction treatment. Since all services may not be fully covered, the admissions staff at Changing Tides does the research to help individuals determine what level of coverage they can expect.

Changing Tides has always provided excellent recovery services for clients struggling with addiction. CARF accreditation underscores that Changing Tides goes the extra mile to ensure every client benefits from compassionate, evidence-based recovery services.

Anyone seeking addiction treatment in North Carolina to break the chains of addiction and achieve sober living is welcome at Changing Tides.
