The pillowcase is made in 25 momme silk, which is the measurement unit for silk and can be compared to thread count for cotton. One momme equals 4.34 grams/sqm, and 25 momme equals 108.5 grams/sqm. 19 momme pillowcases are only 82.4 grams/sqm, meaning 25 momme has 30% more silk. This makes 25 momme silk more durable and softer, as well as provides a deeper colour and more opaque that is ideal for designer fabrics.
The Mulberry silk used also has a 6A grade, which is the highest grade used to rate silk. Compared to lower gradings, 6A is much softer and has a more luminous shine. Only 2% of the annual production globally meets this grade, underlining the value of Mayfairsilk’s pillowcases.
The high-quality silk makes the pillowcases very gentle on the skin and hair, reducing frizz and wrinkles. Additionally, silk is naturally hypoallergenic and temperature-regulating, making it comfortable throughout all seasons.
