Webinar to examine practical strategies to support effective communication and building trust
University of Phoenix will hold the next installment of its Educational Equity Webinar Series, “Building Trust: How Intersectionality and Thoughtful Communications Can Help With Building Trust,” on January 16, 2025, at 11:00 am MST. The event is part of a public series intended for educators, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) practitioners, higher education leaders and administrators, employers, nonprofit organizations, government affiliates, and University of Phoenix faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
"Effective communication skills are essential in the workplace. By understanding how intersectional identities influence communication, we can help enhance these skills," says Tondra Richardson, MBA, director of Student Diversity & Inclusion at the University of Phoenix and co-host of the series. "Our discussion aims to provide participants with practical strategies for recognizing intersectionality and improving communication, thereby fostering trust."
Featuring Zhou Fang, the discussion will focus on understanding intersectionality and intersectional identities, as well as the “yes, and” method to communicate thoughtfully. Fang is the founder and principal consultant of Intersectional Group LLC, a leadership, people and culture practice with a focus on intersectionality, empathy, compassion, intentionality and curiosity.
The discussion will be hosted by Tondra Richardson, MBA, director of Student Diversity & Inclusion and Saray Lopez, MBA, director, Student Diversity & Inclusion, both with the Office of Educational Equity (OEE) at University of Phoenix. The Educational Equity Webinar Series is part of a series of events with which the OEE engages aiming to foster cultural awareness, thought leadership and community alliances to promote and sustain educational equity and diversity initiatives. The OEE supports students and faculty year-round with programs like the Inclusive Leadership Summit and an internal offering for staff and faculty, The Inclusive Café.
