Electric Bus’s Best Companion: Pure Electric Wrecker Rescue Vehicle

With the rapid development of the pure electric specialty vehicle sector, more electric specialty vehicles are making their way into the public eye. Vehicles such as pure electric sanitation trucks, pure electric cement mixers, and pure electric logistics trucks are becoming increasingly common with their stylish appearances and high-tech features. However, the pure electric wrecker rescue vehicle, an innovative product in the specialty vehicle field, may be less familiar. Let’s delve into this advanced product that revolutionizes traditional rescue methods through electrification and information technology.

The Rising Star in the Public Transportation Sector

Since the introduction of 50 pure electric buses during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, electric buses have rapidly expanded their coverage area thanks to their numerous advantages, including noiseless operation, zero emissions, and ease of use. Over more than a decade of rapid development, many cities have fully replaced traditional diesel buses with electric ones. By the end of 2017, Shenzhen had already deployed 16,359 pure electric buses, becoming one of the world’s largest and most widely used cities for electric buses.

With the swift advancement of information technology and intelligence in electric buses, traditional rescue methods, both hardware and software, can no longer meet the needs of electric bus rescue operations, significantly reducing rescue safety. To address the urgent need for safety and technical capability in electric bus rescue, the pure electric wrecker rescue vehicle has been developed.

Introducing the Next Generation of Electric Wrecker Rescue Vehicles

This product, developed in collaboration with the renowned Chinese wrecker rescue vehicle manufacturer Changzhou Changqi, is a new generation of integrated tow and lift wrecker rescue vehicle. It uses the Dongfeng Yiwei EQ1181DACEV3 type Class 2 electric cargo chassis, featuring zero emissions. It is suitable for safe rescue operations on urban roads, suburban roads, highways, as well as airports and bridge roads. It can handle electric buses and other specialized vehicles within its technical parameters.

The vehicle’s towing and lifting system employs a two-in-one tow method (lifting and tire cradling), designed to meet the needs of complex environments and bus vehicle lifting. The arm’s total thickness is only 238mm, with a maximum effective distance of up to 3460mm, primarily used for rescuing buses and vehicles with lower chassis. The arm width is 485mm, made from Q600 high-strength plates, which are lightweight and strong.

Improvements in Rescue Methods Through Information and Intelligence

The chassis features a five-in-one controller, integrating functions for power steering motor control, air compressor motor control, DC/DC conversion, high-voltage distribution, and high-voltage pre-charging power interfaces. It includes three high-power interfaces (20+60+120kw) to meet the temporary charging needs of electric buses. Additionally, a DC/AC reserve for the steering pump ensures steering functionality during towing when the original vehicle’s steering assist is not operational.

To enhance operational safety, the vehicle is equipped with rearview monitoring to observe the condition of the towed faulty vehicle and prevent safety accidents. The networked bus vehicle monitoring platform allows for rapid response to faults, analysis of accident causes, and configuration of rescue plans, achieving quick and safe rescue operations while minimizing safety risks and traffic pressure.

This overview of the pure electric wrecker rescue vehicle highlights how, with the development of electric vehicle information and intelligence, rescue responses can increasingly rely on similarly advanced pure electric wrecker vehicles. Leveraging big data platforms, rescue methods will become smarter, more efficient, and faster.
