On October 30, 2009, Sterlite Industries (India) Limited (the “Company”) issued a press release to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sterlite Energy Limited, is proposing an initial public offering of its equity shares to raise approximately Rs. 51,000 million and has filed a Draft Red Herring Prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Board of India on October 30, 2009. A copy of the press release dated October 30, 2009 is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.
