APPROVAL TO UTILISE RELEVANT

SPECTRUM TO CONDUCT 5G SYSTEM TRIAL

This announcement is made pursuant to Rule 13.09 of the Rules Governing the Listing of the Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and Part XIVA of the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571 of the Laws of Hong Kong).

The board of directors (the “Board”) of China Telecom Corporation Limited (the “Company”) announces that the Company was notified by China Telecommunications Corporation (the parent company of the Company) that China Telecom has been granted the approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (the “MIIT”) to utilise the 3400-3500MHz spectrum nationwide for 5G system trial until 30 June 2020. China Telecom will gradually cease to utilise the 2635-2655MHz spectrum nationwide before 31 March 2019 which will be retrieved by the MIIT.

In the meantime, investors are advised to exercise caution in dealing in the securities of the Company.
