Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

(b) On March 19, 2010, Dr. Robert Blendon resigned from the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Assurant, Inc. (the “Company”) for personal reasons. On March 22, 2010, the Board appointed Dr. John M. Palms to replace Dr. Blendon as Chair of its Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, effective as of that date.

The Company issued a news release today regarding Dr. Blendon’s resignation. The text of the news release is incorporated by reference herein and attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
