FORDING PROVIDES NOTICE OF RELEASE OF
FINANCIAL RESULTS AND CONFERENCE CALL


CALGARY, April 7, 2004 – Fording Canadian Coal Trust (TSX: FDG.UN, NYSE: FDG) will release its 2004 first quarter results in the afternoon on Monday, April 26, 2004.


Mr. Jim Popowich, President of Fording Canadian Coal Trust, will host a conference call with the investment community to discuss the results on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at 8:00 a.m. Mountain time, 10:00 a.m. Eastern time. The media are invited to participate in a listen-only mode.
