Attorney Creates ADA Compliance Course for Website Owners

Arlington, TX - (NewMediaWire) - February 8, 2023 - “Give the ADA Compliance Course to your developer; it tells them exactly what to do,” Kris Rivenburgh said.

Rivenburgh, an attorney and the author of The ADA Book, created the ADA Compliance Course to prevent “ADA website” lawsuits.

The course trains your web personnel to find and fix accessibility issues as they go through the lessons.

“I designed this course as an SOP or step-by-step instructions that website owners can give to their web team,” Rivenburgh said.

The course, announced on The ADA Book YouTube channel in January, isn’t simply a recitation of the 50 success criteria found in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA technical standards.

Rivenburgh explained, “The lessons are all rooted in WCAG requirements, but the course is much more than a WCAG checklist.  I’ve condensed the material down to the top 15 accessibility issues claimed in litigation, prioritized them, and written out plain English instructions that train your team on how to find and fix each issue.”

Rivenburgh believes the simplicity will lead to more accessible websites and a diversion of money away from plaintiffs’ law firms and into accessibility.

“Accessibility is paramount, but we don’t need to pay millions of dollars to plaintiffs’ law firms to make the digital world accessible.”

While serial litigation has been a pervasive thorn for organizations of all sizes – from small businesses to corporations, Rivenburgh is confident his course is the answer to demand letters and lawsuits.

“I am obsessed with ending this never-ending parade of lawsuits through genuine accessibility. With a regimented approach to remediation of code and content, website owners can both significantly improve accessibility and flatten risk of litigation.”

Rivenburgh continued, “The key isn’t perfection, it’s getting started now.”
