In September 2025, Janat Paris was officially recognized by Guinness World Records™️ for acquiring the world’s most expensive tea at Expo 2025 Osaka. The auction, organized by the Sri Lanka Tea Board in collaboration with the Japan Tea Association, brought together international tea houses and collectors, with proceeds supporting women-led farming communities in Sri Lanka

The record-setting tea was cultivated in Sri Lanka’s Sapphire Valley, a highland rainforest region known for minimal environmental disturbance and long-term ecological preservation. Unlike conventional plantations, Sapphire Valley operates under a microbiome-based agricultural model, prioritizing soil biology over chemical intervention.

Microbiome-Based Terroir

Tea plants in Sapphire Valley are grown using microbial ecosystem restoration, including the application of Aquabiota, a probiotic biofertilizer developed from native microorganisms. Central to this process is the presence of Lactobacillus fermentum IL-108, which supports nutrient absorption, reduces plant stress, and enhances long-term soil health. Each harvest carries a distinct microbial profile, verified through independent analysis in Japan.

This cultivation model reflects a measurable shift in tea valuation—where biological integrity and cultivation systems play a defining role alongside origin.

Microbiome-led farming has been shown to influence the tea plant’s biochemical expression, including naturally occurring compounds such as L-theanine and polyphenols, associated with cognitive calm and antioxidant activity. These outcomes are the result of controlled biological environments rather than yield-driven farming.

Pomme d’Amour — Inspired by Tarte Tatin

At Gulfood 2026, Janat Paris will feature Pomme d’Amour, a signature black tea developed in France and inspired by the classic French dessert Tarte Tatin. The tea reflects Janat Paris’ integration of French refinement with biologically cultivated Ceylon tea, demonstrating how microbiome stewardship and maturation techniques contribute to aromatic depth and structure.

Gulfood 2026 Participation

Janat Paris’ presence at Gulfood 2026 marks an opportunity to engage with importers, distributors, and hospitality professionals seeking verifiable quality, traceable sourcing, and scientifically supported cultivation practices.

Through its Guinness World Records™️ recognition and Sapphire Valley cultivation model, Janat Paris represents an evidence-based approach to premium tea—where terroir is biological, measurable, and preserved.

Janat Paris will exhibit at Gulfood 2026, from January 26–30, Dubai.
