Trevor Project Alums Launch The Neighborly Studio, A Creative and Casting Agency Focused on Authentic Storytelling

By: Get News

Three alumni of The Trevor Project have launched The Neighborly Studio, a creative and casting agency that helps mission-driven brands tell authentic stories grounded in real people and radical resourcefulness. Born out of their work together at The Trevor Project—a national nonprofit focused on crisis intervention and suicide prevention—the co-founders bring decades of experience in campaign strategy, design, storytelling, and production. Ryan Bernsten, writer, strategist, and author of 50 States of Mind, will helm campaign strategy and editorial. Avery Kuiper, a producer and project manager for Fortune 500 companies, will lead creative operations. Nathanio Strimpopulos, a Grammy-nominated creative director and visual storyteller with a background in advertising, the entertainment industry, and nonprofit campaigns, will lead creative and design strategy.

At Trevor, they led Webby- and Gold Telly Award-winning campaigns—including Learn with Love alongside Anonymous Content and Sharing Space with Daniel Radcliffe—and raised millions for the organization. After navigating a tough political and financial environment, the trio is turning this scrappiness into a strength as they expand to serve new clients. They’ve built a full-service studio that prides itself on empathy, speed, and direct collaboration.

“We’re not interested in performative storytelling,” says Bernsten, former Director of Campaign Strategy at The Trevor Project. “We’re here to make work that tells authentic stories, sparks conversation, and supercharges growth.”

The Neighborly Studio offers a full suite of creative services, including branding, copywriting, campaign development, project management, and real-person casting for documentary-style videos and commercials. The team’s unique blend of editorial savvy, visual storytelling, and logistical precision makes them a standout partner for nonprofits, philanthropic foundations, and purpose-driven companies seeking to develop creative assets that drive results, launch campaigns, or document impact through film.

“With casting, we start on the ground,” says Kuiper, a seasoned producer and project manager. “We talk to nonprofits, community leaders, organizers—we find the folks doing the real work and build campaigns around them. It’s why our motto is ‘Creative Work for Good.’”

The Neighborly Studio founders believe good storytelling doesn’t just inspire—it drives action.

“We want clients to have the best of both worlds: the professionalism of an agency with the turnaround of a nimble team that delivers,” says Strimpopulos, a Grammy-nominated designer and creative leader with a passion for mission-driven storytelling and former Creative Director at The Trevor Project. “Our values are responsiveness, authenticity, and neighborliness. We uplift unheard stories while helping mission-driven businesses thrive.”
