In this role, she is responsible for creating and delivering the end-to-end talent strategy for the frozen foods category, leading commercial and manufacturing human resources professionals. Additionally, she contributes to the strategy and execution of the North American human resources agenda.

Academic Achievements

Instrumental to Dr. Wheaton's professional journey has been her academic achievements. She first obtained an associate degree in liberal arts from Lake Michigan College in 2001. In 2003, she earned a Bachelor of Science in behavioral psychology, graduating magna cum laude, followed by a Master of Arts in physical education, with an emphasis on sport management, in 2005, both degrees from Western Michigan University. Dr. Wheaton continued her studies at the University of Phoenix, earning a Doctor of Management in organizational leadership in 2012.

While enrolled at Lake Michigan College and Western Michigan University, Dr. Wheaton had the fortunate opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level. After graduating, she assumed assistant and head coaching positions at the high school and collegiate levels; it was these experiences that led her to pursue a career in human resources.

Outside of her formal academic achievements, Dr. Wheaton has received several professional designations, which include an associate certification in project management from Strategy Execution, a Korn Ferry Company; a credential in human resources; and certifications as a Gallup Clifton Strengths and Hogan coach.

Professional Journey

Before she joined Kellanova, Dr. Wheaton held several key positions at Perrigo Company PLC in Grand Rapids, Michigan, between 2018 and 2023. She began her professional journey at the company as a human resources manager for corporate and global functions, eventually moving into other roles that include global organizational development consultant, and senior director of human resources for corporate and global functions and change management.

Dr. Wheaton's professional journey also includes significant experience at Stryker in Portage, Michigan, and Target in Galesburg, Michigan, dating back to 2008.

Additional Professional Pursuits

In addition to her work experience, Dr. Wheaton has been a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society since 2002. She has served on the Grand Valley State University advisory board since 2023 and starting her teaching in academia, binging her experience and passion for developing future talent into the classroom. Her passion for her field is also highlighted through her written works, having penned several publications, including "A Future-Proofing Approach to Talent & Change Management," "Strategic Enforcement of Workforce Solutions" and "Building a 3-Year Strategy in 120 Days," all of which were published by ManageHR in 2024.

Dr. Wheaton's contributions have been recognized with several awards, which include being named as one of the Top 10 HR Leaders by Manage HR Magazine in 2024. She has also been recognized by Marquis Who's Who with inclusion in their prestigious biographical volumes.

Dr. Wheaton's ability to seamlessly blend the needs of the business with those of its people has been a cornerstone of her professional success. She also credits her success to the support from her husband, Jeremy, and her two amazing daughters, Taylor and Tempest.
