Discover the seven different lightsaber combat techniques used by the Jedi and Sith

Introduction

The use of lightsabers is a vital part of both the Jedi and Sith's training and their fight with one another. The Jedi and Sith use seven different lightsaber combat techniques, each with its own distinctive background, guiding principles, and real-world applications. Let's investigate each of them in more depth:

The seven various lightsaber combat techniques used by the Jedi and Sith

●     Shii-Cho

The oldest and most basic method of using a real lightsaber in battle is called Shii-Cho, commonly known as the Way of the Sarlacc or the Determination Form. It emphasises blade work and attacks and defends with broad, sweeping motions. It is excellent for combating several adversaries and serves as a solid beginning point for Jedi Padawans. Shii-Cho combat strategy places a strong emphasis on adaptation and versatility.

●     Makashi

Makashi also referred to as the Dispute Form or the Way of the Ysalamiri, is a technique that emphasises graceful and exact attacks. The Sith created it as a means of overcoming Jedi with powerful lightsaber defences. Makashi places a strong emphasis on quickness and footwork, with practitioners outmanoeuvring opponents with rapid and effective motions.

●     Soresu

Soresu is a defensive technique that focuses on deflecting incoming assaults. It is sometimes referred to as the Way of the Mynock or the Resilience Form. It was created during the Clone Wars to help the Jedi withstand the Separatist army's ferocious blaster fire. Soresu places a strong emphasis on perseverance, tact, and patience.

●     Ataru

Ataru is an acrobatic form that places a focus on speed and movement. It is sometimes referred to as the Aggression Form or the Way of the Hawk-Bat. It is perfect for combat in open areas and against foes that have strong defences. Ataru practitioners move their opponents and attack from unexpected angles by flipping, spinning, and jumping.

●     Shien / Djem So

Shien and Djem So also referred to as the Power Form or the Way of the Krayt Dragon, are two closely similar forms that emphasise strength and power. The Sith's lightsaber attacks, which are frequently more aggressive and potent than the Jedi's, inspired the development of these Jedi weapons. Shien stresses utilising a lightsaber to block incoming assaults, whereas Djem So emphasises deflecting an opponent's attacks with a lightsaber before retaliating with strong blows.

●     Niman

Niman often referred to as the Moderation Form or the Way of the Rancor, is a well-rounded style that incorporates components from all of the previous forms. It places a strong emphasis on adaptation and versatility, enabling practitioners to switch between many forms as necessary. Niman is sometimes regarded as the most useful form for regular fighting scenarios.

●     Vaapad

Vaapad, also known as the Ferocity Form or the Way of the Vornskr, is a deadly fighting method that emphasises using one's inner darkness to one's advantage. Just a small number of Jedi are taught this technique, which was created by Jedi Master Mace Windu. Vaapad is extremely efficient against numerous opponents and stresses quick, erratic attacks.

A retractable lightsaber is a fictional weapon commonly used by Jedi and Sith in the Star Wars universe.

Conclusion

To sum up, each of the seven various lightsaber fighting techniques employed by the Jedi and Sith is distinct, having its own background, guiding principles, and actual use. There is a lightsaber combat style for everyone, whether you're a Jedi trying to protect the galaxy or a Sith trying to take it over.
