On January 31, 2007, Stepan Company (“Stepan”) issued a press release announcing that it settled certain claims and revised its prior earnings forecast for the fourth quarter from that which it previously announced on December 21, 2006. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
